2016-2017 MPI Georgia President

Done but Not Finished

When I joined MPI Georgia 15 years ago, I had no idea where this journey would take me.  It has been a true privilege to serve as a committee volunteer, a Committee Chair, a Board Member and President.  Thank you to all the members for giving me the opportunity to serve.

To the members…

Being a part of MPI Georgia’s leadership has been such a fabulous experience.  I wish that same experience for each member.  I encourage you to give some thought to your MPI Georgia “journey,” not your MPI Georgia “destination.”  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or other members of the leadership team to chart your path.  More than just making connections or creating sales leads; moving up in the organization helps to broaden your understanding of the larger hospitality industry, and it will fuel your passion for this wonderful industry of which we all have the pleasure to be a part.

As with so many other presidents before me, my MPI path does not end with my President’s role.  I still have so many initiatives I want to tackle to make MPI Georgia bigger and better.  I look forward to volunteering with you soon.

2017-2018 MPI Georgia President
Member since 2011

The 2017-2018 President of MPI Georgia, Andy Williams, CMP, TMP unofficially began his term at last week’s Phoenix Awards. The director of sales for Destination South Meetings + Events, Williams addressed the guests with his vision for the chapter’s next fiscal year.

I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for our board of directors and volunteers who have served this organization and continue to put so much time and effort into making MPI Georgia the successful chapter that it is. Thank you all. If you’re a new member or one who is looking to become involved, I encourage you to take that leap. At the very least, come talk to me or have a conversation with someone who volunteers. MPI Georgia is a chapter that will give back to you what you put into it.

Moving into this year new, we have an incoming board of directors that is made up of a diverse and skilled group of members. These individuals are both ambitious and driven. We’ve set lofty goals for 2017-18, but when Phoenix Awards rolls around this time next year, I want you—our membership and key stakeholders—to say one thing: That we were the most accessible and in-tune board of directors you’ve ever experienced within MPI.

We will achieve this by keeping things simple, yet effective:

  • Continue to offer you the types of networking events and educational programs that you want and need.
  •  Develop and evolve partnerships with other industry organizations and strengthen our programming as a result of this cohesiveness.
  • Foster both new and established relationships along the way – all while keeping your needs at the center of our attention.

Meeting Professionals International remains the largest meeting and event industry association in the world. A big part of this lies in the organization’s lack of complacency. I can tell you this is mirrored at the local chapter level. We will always strive to offer you content and experiences that are relevant, beneficial, and advance both your personal and career growth.

Again, thank you all for your commitment and support of MPI Georgia. Cheers to what is sure to be an outstanding new year.
